Davao City – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte declared he favors the communist programs.
This was revealed when the mayor reacted to the facebook posts of Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman, Jose Maria Sison who said that “Mayor Duterte should become president if he is willing to have a democratic coalition government with the revolutionary forces and other patriotic and progressive forces of our people.”
Sison’s facebook comment on Davao Today article Monday said “(W)e can have a common program of action: real national independence and territorial integrity, democratic empowerment of the working people, economic development through national industrialization and genuine land reform, social justice, a patriotic and progressive culture and international solidarity with other peoples for peace and development. What the revolutionary forces want is what the people demand.”
“Kanang ginagukod ni Sison, ginagukod pud nako na. We have a common program for action: real and national independence and territorial integrity, democratic empowerment of the working people –gusto pud nako na. economic development through national industrialization – gusto ko na. And genuine land reform, social justice, patriotic and progressive culture, and international solidarity,” said Duterte during his Sunday program, Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa.
(What Sison is after, I am after that also. We have a common program for action: real and national independence and territorial integrity, democratic empowerment of the working people –I want that also. Economic development through national industrialization, I want that too.)
But Duterte said his pronouncements on establishing a coalition government with the communists also goes out to the Muslim insurgents.
“Everywhere, not only for the NPAs, but for the MI(LF) and MN(LF). Nga we’ll come to an agreement with finality. Fictional man na actually, ug ako lay ma-presidente. Ug ako lay pabut-on (That is fictional actually. Only if I’ll be president, only if I am to decide),” he said.
Duterte has previously hosted the Mindanao Leaders Summit on Federalism last December 1. Dubbed “Mindanawons Forging Unity Toward a Federal System of Government” the summit pushed for federalism as alternative to the present form of government.
Duterte clarified that if he becomes the president, he will retain control of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Duterte will likewise “eradicate all forms of paramilitary.”
“But the positions such as DENR, DAR-Department of Agrarian Reform mao gyuy gusto sa komunista. If they want a clean slate sa land reform, aside from ihatag nimo suportahan nimog seedlings, suportahan nimog makinarya and these are really…mao nang magcomplete—unya nay ubang dagko diha nga kinahanglang i-distribute pa. To which I agree (But the positions such as DENR, DAR-Department of Agrarian Reform that’s what the communists really want. If they want a clean slate sa land reform, aside from providing seedlings you will also provide machineries so it will be complete. And there are still large parcels of lands that still need to be distributed),” Duterte said.
Duterte added that during the time of former President Corazon Aquino’s implementation of the land reform program, a lot of farmer-beneficiaries have sold their lands back to the owners.
“Kay ihatag nimong lote wa man puy suporta, wa man puy farm implements that is the reason most of the awardees katong nahatag nga yuta ginabaligya pud nilag balik ngadto sa mga tag-iya. And that’s what really happened (Because when you give out lands without giving support or farm implements, that’s the reason why most of the awardees sold their lands back to the owners),” he said.
Duterte also supported the CPP’s program for national independence condemning the government’s subservience to foreign dictates.
“Nganong sunod-sunod man ta sa Amerikano? We should be able to chart our own course dinhi sa atong nasud. Paghuman sa Amerikanog recognition, recognize pud ta. Wala man pud mahitabo kung magsige tag sunod-sunod sa Amerikano (Why do we follow the Americans? We should be able to chart our own course. Nothing will happen if we keep on following the Americans),” said Duterte.
