Commuters warned on riding colorum fishing vessels

Sep. 21, 2015

DAVAO CITY – The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina XI) warned commuters not to ride colorum fishing boats when traveling to the Island Garden City of Samal.

In a Philippine Information Agency dispatch, Felisa Orongan, Marina XI director said commuters are put to high risk when they ride unregistered boats.

She said these fishing boats do not have insurance for the passengers in case of accidents.

“We are monitoring the situation side by side with the Philippine Coast Guard,” Orongan said.

Orongan said the Marina already placed  tarpaulins in the ports of Babak, Igacos, Paradise Island Resort and Sta. Ana Wharf containing the list of sea crafts who are duly registered by the agency. (davaotoday.com)
