KIAMBA, SARANGANI — A month after he was captured by the New People’s Army, Private First Class Khen Subere is now able to reunite with his family.
The New People’s Army on Saturday released their prisoner of war in the mountainous area of Sarangani Province.
Subere, who was captured last April 12, was released to Regional Peace and Order Chair and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte around 3:00 pm at Barangay Tamadong, Kiamba town.
The NPA’s Mt. Daguma Sub Regional Operations Command – Far South Mindanao signed Subere’s release papers at 1:00 pm.
NPA Spokesperson Ka Dindo said they found “no reason to prosecute” Subere.
Subere said he was thankful for the kind treatment he received from his captors.
“They provided my needs, ang ilang kaya. Wala ko nila pasakiti (They provided my needs, whatever they can. They did not hurt me),” Subere said.
On June 3, Subere’s family appeared before the members of the press to call for the suspension of military operations for his immediate release. (davaotoday.com)
