The Kadayawan Festival of Davao City this August will be a celebration of abundance.
During the Club 888 Forum at the Marco Polo Hotel on Wednesday, Kadayawan 2008 committee chairperson on publicity and media Art Boncato announced that, for Davao to celebrate its bounty, there is a need to value the earth, the land, the natural resources and the harvest.
Boncato reported that the tourism sector has expressed keen interest in the festivities. He explained that their objective is to bring in more domestic and international tourists.
Indeed, Boncato said that tourism players, especially airline companies and hotels have started promotions to encourage visitors. Rates have been reduced and many visitors have already availed of the zero ticket offered by airline companies. Tourists from HongKong and Singapore can also take advantage of direct flights to Davao.
According to Boncato, they are also trying to negotiate with 13 airports in key cities across the country to put up billboards that will feature mayor Rodrigo Duterte inviting tourists to celebrate the Kadayawan Festival with Dabawenyos. These billboards will also speak of Davao, in general, as a must-see destination in the Philippines. (PIA)
