Members of the media flocked to the ceremonial hall of the provincial capitol building to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the Kapihan sa Kapitolyo with Davao del Norte governor Rodolfo del Rosario.
Kapihan sa Kapitolyo is a bimonthly venue for the local media to easily reach out to local government officials and have them shed light on issues of public interest.
Aside from members of the media, Department of Labor and Employment regional director Atty. Jalilo del Torre and other government officials were present at the festivities.
Media people grabbed the opportunity to ask del Torre about the updates on wage increase for southern Mindanao. Del Torre said they will be having a public hearing on May 20 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel to deliberate the wage increase in Region XI.
Meanwhile, government employees in the province of Davao del Norte already received a 10 percent wage increase. Governor del Rosario reported that the province had sufficient funds to cover the 10 percent increase so it was put into effect last month.
