DAVAO CITY — The upcoming thanksgiving party for President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is now 90 percent ready, organizers said.
The celebration, dubbed “One Love, One Nation, this Saturday, June 4 will be held at the Crocodile Park.
Kat Dalisay, the event organizer said the remaining 10 percent of their preparation will include the final close coordination of the securities in the area.
Approximately 300,000 to 500,000 will attend the thanksgiving party. Dalisay said that there will be four layers of security before entering the event area.
She said a total of 4,500 security personnel will be deployed at the event area. “There will be one entrance, the diversion road area,” she said.
Dalisay said that the first layer of security will be at the drop-off area.
Some 50 meters after, the second layer of security personnel will be in position. Another layer will be placed 100 meters away and the last security layer will be near the event area.
Dalisay said this will make the security forces more visible and also “to control the behavior of the attendees.”
Show will go on ‘rain or shine’
Just like in their past events, Dalisay said that it will be a “rain or shine party”.
She said that there will be available covered tents around the area. Dalisay also reminded that bringing umbrellas is prohibited, but they encourage the participants to bring raincoats.
The thanksgiving party will feature local artists who already prepared during a run through of the program last Tuesday, May 31.
Dalisay said that the program will be hosted by Kat De Castro, Arnel Ignacio and Bayani Agbayani.
Meanwhile, Filipino artists Vice Ganda, Aaron Villaflor, Jimmy Bondoc, KZ Tandingan, Carlos Agassi, Gladys Guevarra, Bradley Holmes, Andrew E, Paolo Santos, Thor Dulay, Anton Diva, Ivy Violan, Bernardo Bernardo, Beverly Salviejo, Joyce Pring, Katsly Lee, David Ardiente, Chris Raeber, Roda King, Franco Zarate and Victor Pring are among the performers. There will also be other artists from Davao, Visayas and Mindanao.
Dalisay announced that local artists would play from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, while celebrity artists will perform from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. A rave party will be held from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am.
“There is no exact time yet when will President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will make his speech,” she said.
Follow city laws
Dalisay said the thanksgiving party would “strictly” follow the Davao City laws.
She said that liquors will not be available to minors and the party will also follow the liquor ban in the city.
Dalisay also said that big backpacks are not allowed.
“There are for sale food inside the event are but if you really want to bring food, we advice to put it in a transparent container,” she said.
Traffic concerns
Dalisay said that they already put up traffic advisories along Diversion Road, Buhangin road and Ulas, “advising big trucks and other vehicle to avoid the diversion road to prevent heavy traffic.”
She said that she already coordinated with Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) to help them with the traffic.
“We asked them to help us in telling the people that it will not be allowed to park in side walks,” she said.
Dalisay said that the designated parking area is the space inside Ciudad Verde located near the event area.
“It will be a first come, first serve for the first 1,000 to 1,5000 cars who will participate in the event,” Dalisay said.
She also announced that bus rides are available on the event.
Dalisay said that there will be eight buses available on that day and the picking and dropping are will be SM L
anang premiere for the northern side and SM City Davao for the southern part area.
Medical and feeding program
Before the thanksgiving party, there will be a free medical mission and feeding program at People’s Park located at Palma Gil Street here in the city also on Saturday, June 4.
‘We will be giving out the priority numbers from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, we will be catering to 1,000 patients,” she said.
The medical program will start at 8:00 am to 10:00 am while the feeding program will start at 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
There will be 50 doctors and 50 nurses available and standby in the event. (davaotoday.com)
