DAVAO CITY – Musikademy will have its second edition concert series entitled “Something Wonderful, Something Musical” on December 4 and 5 at the RSM Event Center of PWC Davao where proceeds will benefit cleft-lip patients of Operation Smile Davao, and the development of the Archdiocese Nourishment Center.
In a press conference Monday, Bong Avila, the show’s music director said that the December 4 gala is a charity event for Operation Smile which is for indigent cleft-lip patients who cannot pay for their operations, while the December 5 gala is for the development of the newly-established nourishment center of the Davao Archdiocese wherein they feed around more than 200 street children aside from them teaching catechism.
Avila said the show is choreographed by Edison Morales and Toffer Alegado and centers on three very popular musicals: Annie, Grease and Les Miserables.
“It’s a wonderful show, it’s for kids, it’s for teens and it’s for adults also,” Avila said.
Assistant Director Fonzi Marquez said that the show includes more than one hundred people.
“We also have 2 guest choirs from the Himig Singers of Davao City and the St. Joseph’s Chorale,” he said.
The show will also feature Davaoeño pianist, Michael Lopez, who is based in Hong Kong. Lopez will lead the instrumental ensemble during the performance.
Lead performers also include Michael Ebro Dakudao, Rina Baluyut-Angeles, and Fonzi Marquez along with the cast comprising the Musikademy’s M6 Teens and RedNote Kids.
Cecile Hidalgo, show director, said they will have their gala show on December 4 at 7:30 pm. Hidalgo said on December 5 their matinee and gala shows will be held at 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm respectively.
Ticket prices for the gala performances are sold at P500-P1500, while matinee show tickets on December 5 cost P250, P150 and P75. (davaotoday.com)
