DAVAO CITY – Forty-five faculty members of University of the Philippines in Mindanao (UPMin) participated in a mentor development training a week before classes start.
In a statement to the press, the UP Mindanao said the program dubbed as “Mentoring the Mentors” aims to “create an Education Revolution in the Philippines through the adoption of the mentoring approach towards students, fellow-teachers, and staff.”
The three-day workshop included sessions on mentoring roles and practices, character and value formation, building win-win relationships, leadership for service, tips for designing effective instructions and active teaching-learning strategies, and on creating an Action Plan for mentoring educators, students and staff.
UP Mindanao said the training will develop teachers “who are proud to be a teacher, who are empowered by critical and creative thinking, who exercise leadership for service, and are motivated for continuous learning.”
The week-long seminar workshop was held in separate batches from July 22 to July 29 and is facilitated by former professors of UP College of Education Dr. Cecilia Adriano and Dr. Soledad Francisco. (davaotoday.com)
