DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Food businesses and laundry shops are now the city’s business trends for this year, an official said.
Engr. Ruel Braña, section chief for business registration, licensing, and accreditation of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the increase in number of the said business ventures was due to the high level of patronage of both Dabawenyos and tourists.
“This is because they have levelled up their business,” Braña said during the Connect media forum at SM Lanang Premier last Friday, November 24.
Braña attributed the booming businesses to the city’s promotional efforts including the “Davao Life is Here” tagline, the leadership of the local government and the peace and order of the city which attracted more tourists here.
Although he was not able to present any figure, he said the traffic congestion here force people to either dine in or buy cooked food before going home. While the “do-it-yourself” system of laundry shops have earned people’s interest, pointing that the public finds it more affordable and convenient.
Braña suggested that businessmen who plan to put up such establishments should make sure that they have a good location and enough parking spaces since this is what the public also needs.
Following the said top trends was the business process outsourcing (BPO), which Braña pointed was at the top spot last year.
Meanwhile, the office also observed the decline of manpower services and money lending companies. Braña explained that this may be due to the stricter provisions and policies.(davaotoday.com)
