DAVAO CITY, Philippines—To increase awareness on taxation among high school students, the city government of Tagum has rolled out a learning module on real property tax for Grade 9 students, the City Information Office said on Thursday.
Edwin Lasquite, information officer of Tagum CIO, said the learning module was bared last October 2 at the new City Hall building.
He said the learning module crafted by the City Treasurer’s Office and the Department of Education’s Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRDMS) Division of Tagum City.
“The module includes the fundamental principles for general provisions, appraisal and assessment, special levies, collection and disposition of proceeds, and remedies on the collection of real property tax delinquencies,” Lasquite said.
Leila Ibita, the DepEd education program supervisor for Araling Panlipunan, who accepted the learning module, recognized the need of teaching young students “the importance of tax to our economy and the role of the local government unit in maximizing these money to produce top notch public service programs.”
Meanwhile, the city government is hoping that the module would improve the city’s tax generation and usher more business investments and opportunities for the people of Tagum.(davaotoday.com
