DAVAO CITY – Air Asia Philippines announced an alll-women crew to navigate many of their flights in the country, as it opened anew its operation here in Davao City on Friday.
And the company also guaranteed the safety of its operations, as Atty. Joy Cañeba, chief executive officer of Air Asia Philippines, said they would commemorate the international women’s month with their first flight with an all-women crew manning the aircraft.
“For the first flight, I thought it would be nice to have all female crew with me and the company,” she said.
Actually, she disclosed, “40 percent of my staff are female, which is very impressive given that airline seems to be a mans world but in Air Asia we don’t have any gender issue and we believe in equal opportunity to everyone”.
Captain Giselle Bendong, who will fly the plane, Z2611 said she was excited.
“I was so excited that I was informed to fly the route and of course this month we are celebrating the women’s month and also the inaugural flight of Manila-Davao and vice versa,” Bendong said.
Cañeba said its commitment to safety is traced to its “strict policies and rules of operation”.
“Can i guarantee a safe operation as to the best of our ability? Yes,” Cañeba said adding that they have been operating since 2010 and “did not have any fatal accident to date.” (davaotoday.com)
