Panabo has most number of dengue cases in Davao del Norte

DAVAO CITY — Panabo City recorded the most number of suspected dengue cases in Davao del Norte province for the first quarter this year.

During the USAPangkalusugan  Thursday, June 16, Panabo City Health Officer Dr. Emelda Bendijo said the city reported 313 dengue cases for the period of January to March 2016.

The top three barangays with most number of cases were Barangay Manay with 52, Barangay New Visayas with 33 and Barangay Southern Davao with 18.

“Among those cases, three individual died, which were from barangays Dalisay, Consolacion and San Vicente,” she said.

Data from the Provincial Health Office showed Tagum City ranked second with 211 suspected dengue cases and Kapolong town is third with 193 cases.

Based on PHO’s data the dengue cases this year has doubled from 556 suspected cases during the first quarter last year to 1,395 suspected dengue cases this year.

In a Philippine Information Agency dispatch, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Agapito Hornido said the high numbers of dengue cases were mostly reported in urban centers where the virus can be easily passed on. (davaotoday.com)
