DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Department of Health confirmed two cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) infection in Davao City, while two persons under investigation who died this week tested negative of the virus.
The DOH announced on Saturday that the two patients, a couple both aged 47, traveled to Manila and arrived in Davao on March 6.
The wife, identified as patient PH 262, started to show symptoms of cold and body malaise on March 9, while her husband, PH 263, developed cold on March 13.
Both were placed on strict home quarantine and had their specimen collected at the Southern Philippine Medical Center for testing on March 13.
The DOH said the couple are asymptomatic or not bearing symptoms of the virus.
The two cases in Davao brings the total cases of Covid-19 infection in the Philippines to 307.
Meanwhile, two of the four PUIs who died had tested negative of Covid-19.
The DOH reported that the 71-year od PUI from Matanao, Davao del Sur, died of septic shock on March 15 at the SPMC.
The other deceased PUI, a 68-year old Korean staying in Panabo City, also tested negative.(davaotoday.com)
