DAVAO CITY – The camp of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte said it would apologize to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ group and a long-time ally of Duterte, over his exclusion in the selection team for Cabinet appointees.
In behalf of the Duterte camp, spokeperson Peter Laviña said he extended the apology to Pastor Quiboloy “for not allowing him to be in touch with Duterte until now”.
“These are not intentional, we wanted to accommodate and consult everyone,” Laviña said.
He said that the camp is receiving critical reactions in the appointment and selection process, including the accommodation of guests to have an audience with the President-elect.
Laviña defended that “it is still a continuing process and it is barely one week only, we still have to undergo up to June 30 and there after it will be the position of the government.”
He said it was unintentional if Pastor Quiboloy was not included in the selection team.
“We are trying to make amends, I personally notified Bong Go on the complaints of Pastor Quiboloy,” Laviña said.
Pastor Quiboloy’s spokesman, Mike Abe, told a television network that Quiboloy was “saddened because he was not chosen to be part of the selection team that recommends to Duterte the Cabinet prospects”.
Abe said that Pastor Quiboloy “has also no idea what happened because he was not contacted and consulted since after the elections.”
However,Quiboloy is still willing to talk to Duterte despite being disappointed, Abe said.
Laviña said Duterte took a break from the series of meetings and other activities this week. (davaotoday.com)
