DAVAO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will provide not only financial aid for the casualties of the Roxas night market bombing but also therapy services for three months for all the victims who are now experiencing physical and mental pain.
“If they want to undergo stress debriefing then we really need to talk to the rest of the families,” Erna Sampiano, head of DSWD disaster risk reduction group, said, saying that services may include stress debriefing and hospital check ups.
The DSWD gave initial financial assistance to the victims of the blast on September 2, using the quick respond fund of the Department with a budget of P3 million.
Sampiano said that the Department allotted P10,000 financial assistance to each of the families of those who died in the bombing and P5,000 for those who are wounded.
Aside from the victims, Sampiano assisted the other 11 masseurs who are still not working due to post physical and mental pain.
“We extended assistance for them to have check up to the hospital since most of them did not avail the assistance by the local government unit (LGU),” she said. (davaotoday.com)
