DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte declared on Thursday that the killings related to his administration’s drug war will continue, until the last drug lord and pusher is dead or behind bars.
The President said he does not care about the “7,000 lives wasted” because they are criminals anyway.
“Walay problema ng inyong kinabuhi nga ma-wasted, because you are a criminal anyway, and you destroy the lives of a community and the country eventually (There is no problem with your lives being wasted because you are a criminal anyway, and you destroy the lives of a community and the country eventually)”, Duterte said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Cordova Link Expressway, a public private partnership that the government went with business tycoon Manny Pangilinan.
“I am committed to stop drugs before I go out. which means to say, father, monsignor, bishop, marami pang patayan ito. Kasi lumalaban talaga ‘yan” (there will be more killings because they really fight back), Duterte added.
Duterte also lashed at critics who said that this drug war only affected the poor, saying he made no such distinction.
“It does not really matter to me at all if you are the biggest drug distributor or ikaw ang pinakapobre diri sa Cordova, kay pareho mo nagkuntsyabo para sa kadaotan sa inyong isig-katawo (It doesn’t really matter to me at all if you are the biggest drug distributor or you are the poorest here in Cordova, because you are both in connivance in destroying your fellowman),” Duterte said.
Also on Thursday, New York-based Human Rights Watch released a report that accused the Philippine National Police of police of “routinely” planting guns, spent ammunition, and drug packets next to the victims’ bodies to make it look like a gunfight.
HRW also held President Rodrigo Duterte ultimately responsible for the over 7,000 deaths linked to his drug war.
Duterte however, responded by saying that his critics should also look at the over 4 million whom he said had been reduced to slavery.
Maayo pa slave nga imong gipalit sa middle east sa african slave markets because mautuusan mo pang magtrabaho. Itong bungong na 4 million na pilipino, wala nang silbi to. (The slaves that you can buy in the Middle East or in the African Slave markets are better off, because they can still work. But these addicted 4 million Filipinos, they are already a lost cause), Duterte said.
Duterte also downplayed accusations of extrajudicial killings, saying he would not have lost men if he simply ordered executions.
“I have lost 32 soldiers fighting in mMindanao against drug people. Ang lab doon sa Mindanao, may dalawang m16. I have lost now 29 policemen. Ug exrtajudicial killings pa na, wala untay namatay sa akong mga tao. I would ahve simply said, basig nagtalikod, nalibang pusila” (The labs there in Mindanao are armed with two m16 rifles. I have lost now 29 policemen. If those are extrajudicial killings, I wouldn’t have lost men. I would have simply said, even if they are not facing you, or defecating, shoot them), Duterte said.
Duterte however, lashed the most at the Catholic Church, bringing up Mark Falvey, the priest whom he says abused him and boys of “three generations down” while he was still studying at the Ateneo de Davao University here.
“Bata pa mi niadto, mangumpisal sa pari. Sige mig misa, ginagunitan among luso ay P****** mga pari. Y**** Tinuod na, tinuod na. Three generations down sa davao. Look at your internet, Mark Falvey. He was the priest who as sued in LA for 35 million dollars, and the society of jesus had to pay for that damages, because of molestations” (We were young then, we’c confess to priests. We hear masses, but then they touch our private parts. Priests (expetives). That’s true. Three generations down in Davao. Look at your internet, Mark Falvey. He was the priest who as sued in LA for 35 million dollars, and the Society of Jesus had to pay for that damages, because of molestations), Duterte said.
Duterte also advised his critics at the Church, saying they do not contribute to solving the problem through criticizing him while sitting in their “palaces.”
“Jesus Christ was nailed to a wooden cross. Siguro salin sa sugnod but he was nailed. Tingnan ninyo yang cross na dala dala ninyo sa dughan ninyo. Gold. pati yung chalice niyo, gold. Gaddemet, stop it. Go back to the wooden mugs” (Jesus Christ was nailed to a wooden cross, maybe just little more than firewood, but he was nailed. Look at the crosses that you carry on your chests. Gold. Even your chailces are gold. (expletive), stop it. Go back to the wooden mugs), Duterte said.
“Mga pari wa nay gibuhat kundi magyawyaw, nindot kaayog palasyo. Pamaligya na ninyo, palit og bugas, hatag sa pobre (You priests do nothing but blabber. But you have very beautiful palaces. Sell those, buy rice, and give them to the poor),” Duterte added.(davaotoday.com)
