DAVAO CITY—The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) Davao believes the order placing the city under the control of the Commission on Election (Comelec) should now be lifted
“I can safely say that there’s no need to have the order continued,” said lawyer Aileen Lizada, PPCRV legal counsel, in an interview over Hatol ng Bayan.
Lawyer Danilo Cullo, Davao election officer, agreed that Comelec may have the order terminated earlier than the supposed end of election period which is June 10 as long as there is a clear proof of peace and order in the locality.
Lizada admitted they received reports of harassment of PPCRV volunteers in the provinces of Davao Oriental and Davao del Norte. However, she said these complaints had yet to be verified.
PPCRV reported that they had gotten the fourth copy of the election returns after the board of election inspectors (BEIs) transmitted the results electronically.
Father Archimedes Lachica, S.J., PPCRV regional chairperson, said they may be lagging from the counting done by Comelec, but the PPCRV count is intended to be done securely to validate Comelec count. The PPCRV tabulation was done inside the Ateneo de Davao University campus. (PIA-XI)
