DAVAO CITY, Philippines—The country’s leading cement-maker Holcim Philippines is sharing its latest innovative infrastructure offerings aims to improve the country’s road infrastructure program.

One of the company’s infrastructure solutions is the “soil stabilization services” which will improve durability of constructed roads in the country.

Holcim is also offering other solutions such as its government-accredited SuperFast Concrete for quick pavement repairs in highly urbanized areas, and roller-compacted concrete for cheaper and faster construction of smaller roads.

“These are just examples of our solutions, and we can introduce other innovative materials and services depending on the needs of the market,” Holcim Philippines Road Infrastructure Project Engineer Ace Romualdez said in a statement over the weekend.

Romualdez said such solution is relevant and timely particularly in Mindanao where the government will invest heavily in the coming years to improve the road network.

He was referring to the Duterte administration’s road infrastructure program, a key thrust of the national infrastructure upgrade particularly in Mindanao.

For this year, the government allocated around P476 billion for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of which almost 40 percent will be spent for road building in Mindanao.

Also, the government has proposed to increase DPWH’s budget by around 37 percent to about P643 billion in 2018.

The Holcim official presented the company’s Integrated Road Offerings during the 2017 Philconstruct confab last September 10 here to help construction industry stakeholders better execute road projects through innovative alternatives.

“The approach involves engaging project specifiers as early as possible so the company can better understand their needs and recommend the right building solutions for their projects,” Romualdez said. (davaotoday.com)
