Train commuters are dismayed over the non-issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) for the fare increases imposed by Light Rail Transit (LRT) and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) last January 4.
In a statement emailed Tuesday, James Relativo spokesperson of Train Riders Network (TREN) said that they are enraged with the decision.
Relativo said that even if the Supreme Court denied issuing a TRO, their position remains that the imposition of fare hike is “illegal” and did not went through proper consultation.
During their en banc session, the SC directed the respondents to comment on the petitions filed by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, ex-TESDA chief and Iloilo Rep. Augusto Syjuco, Bayan Muna and the United Filipino Consumers and Commuters Incorporated, which are all seeking to stop the fare increases.
