DAVAO CITY – After more than an hour of commotion inside the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Haran house on Thursday morning, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte calls for a dialogue between the members of the Davao City Police Office, who came together with 2nd district North Cotabato Rep. Nancy Catamco and the Manobo tribal families who sought refuge inside the church compound.
A separate group of tribal leaders under the paramilitary group, Alamara called on their relatives inside the compound to go back home. But their relatives refused for fear of the military encamping their communities.
PARENTS. Celia and Anayak Malibato are excited to meet their son, Perut, who is a member of the paramilitary group Alamara on Thursday morning. Perut tries to convince his family to go home but they refused.
BRIEF REUNION. Perut Malibato, who is a tribal militia, is given the opportunity to talk to his family inside the evacuation center. Perut hugs his father Anayak Malibato and younger brother Alvin in an emotional encounter after they refused to go with him.
MEDICAL CHECK-UP. A team of 911 conducts medical check-up on children evacuees.
COOK. A Manobo evacuee prepares meal for everyone. He says they consume six sacks of rice daily. He added the support groups spend not less than P6,000 daily for food alone.
