DAVAO CITY — Bibinayo or the traditional method of pounding rice was one of the event during the third year of the Lumadnong Dula (tribal games) held on Thursday, August 18 as part of the activities for the week-long Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival.
In Bibinayo, the Lumad tribes pound “palay” (pre-husked rice) and separate grain from the chaff in a given time.
The Lumad tribes who participated include Ata, Klata, Matigsalog, Ovu Manuvu, and Tagabawa. Aside from Bibinayo, the other events were Pana, Sisibow, Kakasing, Sosakoro, Totaringki of Paning, Solopot, Siklot, Bubuntug, Aakow and tug of war.
Datu Rudy Mande a Matigsalog who was one of the organizers of the Lumadnong Dula said during the previous years, only Lumad tribes participated in the Lumadnong Dula. But this year, Moro tribes also held their own games. Mande told DavaoToday that one of their objectives is to show the culture of the Lumads and the Moro people through their ethnic games.
The Moro tribes in Davao City are the Kalagan or Kagan, Maguindanaon, Maranao, Iranun, Sama- Badjao, and the Tausug.
