TAGUM CITY—Three persons were hurt when a grenade exploded Tuesday morning at a public market in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, an official said.
The casualties were identified as Maylene Vargas, 29, a resident of Barangay Dansuli and Bandar Abraham, a resident of Barangay Kalawag 2 at Isulan.
According to Police Superintendent Jimuel Siason, commanding officer of Police Public Safety Company, the suspect behind the Tuesday blast was identified as Raheb Pangelaton Dimaluloy, 36, a resident of Barangay Dimakling.
Siason said that Dimaluloy was also hurt and all three were rushed to the nearest public hospital for immediate treatment.
As of press time, authorities are still conducting a thorough investigation but Siason was quick to claim that the Tuesday incident was only an “isolated” case and has nothing to do with the recent Mamasapano incident.
Tuesday’s blast has triggered the police authorities to impose a heightened alert.
Isulan town Mayor Diosdado Pallasigue urged residents “to remain calm and be vigilant at all times.”
Meanwhile, Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) urged the people “to continue supporting the Mindanao peace process.”
Hataman said “the ongoing peace process between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) presents the most durable solution to the conflict in Mindanao.”
He added that war is not the solution and the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) “is for the interest of peace and Filipinos must support it.” (davaotoday.com)
