DAVAO CITY— The City Council approved the appointment of City Administrator Zuleika Lopez in a resolution passed on Tuesday, August 23.
“I and the team of the department heads and chiefs of offices of the executive department of the local government look forward to working with every single one of you towards the achievement of the 10-point priority agenda of our beloved City Mayor, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio,” Lopez said during the regular session of the City Council.
Lopez was appointed by Duterte on August 1. She served as a former secretary of the Sangguniang Panlungsod from 2007 to 2010.
Prior to replacing Atty. Jesus Melchor Quitain this year, Lopez also served as the acting City Administrator from 2010 to 2013 under Mayor Sara after her appointment was rejected by then Vice Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte for the reason that she did not have enough experience in administration and management work required under the Local Government Code for city administrator.
The Code requires a city administrator to possess the experience in management and administration work for at least five years. (davaotoday.com)
