DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The payment for the first installment of real property taxes has been extended by the city government of Davao for three months, or until the end of June this year.

This was the announcement made by the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) on Thursday, March 28.

CTO officer-in-charge Erwin Alparaque also encouraged Davao taxpayers to settle their taxes within the June 30 deadline for them to avail the advance payment discount of up to 10 percent.

Those who can pay their real property taxes in full for the whole year within the first quarter can also avail of the 20 percent discount, Alparaque added.

He also disclosed that the actual revenue collection for real property taxes of the city as of March 25 this year already amounts to PHP 591, 527, 485.16.

The city government has a target collection of PHP 1.7 billion for real property taxes for this year, a target higher compared to the 2018 target of PHP 1.58 billion.

“We are very confident that we could reach, or [even] surpass the target of 1.7 billion,” Alparaque said, noting that last year, the city government also exceeds its target collection.

Meanwhile, Alparaque warned that legal actions will be taken against delinquent taxpayers, as provided by the law like the Local Government Code.

Last year, the city government has published a list of all delinquent taxpayers in Davao City, with a total of PHP 79 million unpaid real property taxes. (davaotoday.com)
