DAVAO CITY – This city’s police cheif, Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr., is likely to continue serving his term after the January 10 election prohibition of movement of personnel although Danao already exceeded his tour of duty.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Wendy Rosario said there is no order yet coming from the national headquarters on the reassignment of officials.
Rosario said the reshuffling needs to consider the election period.
The PNP issues reassignment orders to police unit commanders who have already reached or exceeded two years tour of duty in their posts.
Rosario said he recommended Senior Supt. Michael John Dubria to replace Danao as City Director.
He added that they already submitted the recommendation for Dubria, whose application was also accepted by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
However, Rosario said the decision remains to the national headquarer.
“Sr. Supt. Dubria is very willing to be the City Director. I recommended him, but the choice remains in the national headquarters. That needs to be deliberated, so until such time,there is an order issued by the headquarters, Sr. Supt. Danao remains as the city director,” Rosario said.
Dubria, chief of the Regional Operations and Plans Division (ROPD) of PRO-Davao, also served as a station commander of Talomo Police before being promoted as Deputy Regional Director for Intelligence of PRO 11.He also served as officer-in-charge of the Davao Del Sur Provincial Police Office.
Rosario also dismissed rumors that the Camp Crame will fight its way to put an official in Davao City.
He said “everybody is given a chance” and that the PRO 11 recommended Dubria among the three names that should be filled up.
Meanwhile, Rosario commented that Danao is “doing well” in his job. (With a report from Evangeline Adalid, Davao Today Intern)
