DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte gained an increase in net satisfaction rating nationwide with +66 or “very good”, but the SWS survey also indicated a 12-point drop on his satisfaction rate in Mindanao, compared to March 2017 satisfaction rate survey.
The SWS released its Second Quarter 2017 Social Weather Survey findings on public satisfaction with President Duterte showing continued upward trend of his satisfaction rating at 78 percent. The survey result is 3 points higher from March 2017’s 75 percent.
SWS data published in Business World on Friday said Duterte got a satisfaction rate of +87 in March 2017, but reduced to +75 in June 2017 in Mindanao.
The data collection of the survey concluded during the period June 23 to 26 or a month after President Duterte imposed martial law in Mindanao. But the survey did not indicate the factors of the decrease in Mindanao, including the imposition of martial law.
His satisfaction rate also dropped by one point in NCR: from +64 in March 2017 to +63 in June 2017.
Duterte gained increases in Balance Luzon, from +51 in March 2017 to +58 in June 2017; and in Visayas, from +62 in March 2017 to +75 in June 2017.
New personal record high
SWS said the survey was conducted from June 23 to 26 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide.
Three hundred respondents were interviewed each in the areas of Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao (sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao).
“The Social Weather Survey item on public satisfaction with the President is non-commissioned. It was included on SWS’s own initiative and released as a public service, with first printing rights assigned to BusinessWorld,” the SWS clarified.
(“Please tell me how satisfied or dissatisfied you are with the performance of RODRIGO DUTERTE as President of the Philippines. Are you very satisfied, somewhat satisfied, undecided if satisfied or dissatisfied, somewhat dissatisfied, very dissatisfied, or you have not ever heard or read anything about RODRIGO DUTERTE?”).
SWS also presented its terminology for Net Satisfaction Ratings, to include: +70 and above, “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to –9, “neutral”; –10 to –29, “poor”; –30 to –49, “bad”; –50 to –69, “very bad”; –70 and below, “execrable.”
SWS considers the movement from one classification to another as either an “upgrade” or “downgrade.”
SWS said President Duterte gained a new personal record-high net satisfaction rating of “Very Good” or +66 during the survey.
For the survey in said period, the President got the highest satisfaction net rate in Mindanao with +75; followed in Visayas with +73; NCR with +63; and Balance Luzon with +58.
President Duterte also gained a +68 rate from residents in urban areas and +63 from rural areas, the survey said. (davaotoday.com)
