DAVAO CITY – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday revealed that his family does not want him to run for presidency this 2016 election.
“Family ko, even the former mayor Inday Sara, does not want it,” he said.
He said that his daughter, former Davao City mayor Sara Duterte has been talking to people not to convince his father to run for the position due to the mayor’s medical conditions.
“Sumasakit yung knee kasi nadisgrasya ako. I have this headache, it’s a medical issue (My knee is aching because I had an accident),” the mayor said.
He also said that he has a spinal injury and needs to undergo operation.
Duterte said that even his close friends do not want him to run.
“Lahat ng mga close ko, even si Sammy Uy who used to finance my election, sabi nya ‘wag kang tumakbo (All of my close friends, even Sammy Uy who used to finance my election, he said do not run),” Duterte said.
Duterte said that he wants to continue serving the public, however, he admitted that he is tired and considers retiring after his term.(davaotoday.com)
