DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A former police officer tagged as Davao del Norte’s number 1 drug personality was arrested on Thursday in Panabo City.
The suspect was identified as Carlito Salvador Wong, 59, a former police officer. He was arrested by a composite team of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11, the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit XU and the Panabo City Police Station at his house in Phase 2, Purok Ubas corner Melon and Strawberry Street, Niceville Subdivision in Barangay Cagangohan, Panabo City.
The operatives recovered three pack s and one small sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or locally known as shabu, weighing 25 grams with a street value of P375,000. Also recovered is one pack of Cannabis sativa L and other assorted drug paraphernalia
Meanwhile, in Davao del Sur, a local government employee was arrested in a buy-bust operation at 6:30 pm on April 26 at Padada Municipal Gymnasium, Rizal Street, Poblacion, Padada town.
The suspect was identified as Ramon Cabrera Callao a.k.a Mon, 47, a revenue collection officer of Padada and a resident of Quirino District, Padada, Davao del Sur. Callao was arrested after two months of validation and surveillance.
The joint elements of Davao del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Office, Davao Occidental Provincial Drug Enforcement Office of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XI together with Regional Intelligence Unit and Padada Municipal Police Station have recovered one sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as shabu worth P1,000.
Both Wong and Callao are facing cases for violation of Section 11, Section 12 and Section 15, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” of Republic Act 9165. If Callao will be found guilty of such act, the maximum penalty of the unlawful act shall be imposed, in addition to absolute perpetual disqualification from any public office as stated in Article II, Section 28 (Criminal Liability of Government Officials and Employees) of Republic Act 9165.
