DAVAO CITY, Philippines — As Filipinos take part on the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar urged the public to observe a clean, orderly, crime-free “Undas.”
“As we remember our departed loved ones, we ask everyone to observe the solemnity of the occasion. Let us not bring bladed tools, liquors, loud speakers, and even gaming cards and see to it that cemeteries before, during, and after the observance of Undas are clean, orderly, and crime-free,” Andanar said.
Andanar said the PNP has deployed police personnel in other different areas of interest, such as bus terminals, airports and seaports, and other places of convergence.
He added that the deployment includes road safety marshalls to provide immediate police and security assistance to the public and beat patrollers and explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) experts to preempt terroristic activities.
Andanar said the Joint Task Force (JTF), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) coordinated by intensifying its intelligence monitoring and security operations to thwart all possible threats during Undas.
“As our people enjoy this rare four-day break, there are many who would opt to go to their provinces. We remind them to secure their houses and make sure they are locked with all appliances unplugged before leaving. And for motorists with private vehicles do not forget to check their proper operating condition and roadworthiness.” he said.
Meanwhile, Andanar said that various traffic management agencies and departments conducted and monitored various inspections and transportation schedules to avoid traffic congestions and passenger overloading.
Prior to the observance, Andanar said that the even the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) also conducted an inspection of buses as part of ensuring its road worthiness and safety of the passengers.
