DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The parents of two members of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary captured by the New People’s Army in Davao Oriental last February 14 appealed to the communists to release them.
In a video posted in the Facebook page of Kalinaw News on February 20, Clemencia Nucos, mother of CAA Carl Marc Nucos was emotional as she called on the NPAs to free her son.
“Manawagan ko ninyo iuli na akong anak, wa man nay sala. Wala man gyud na mangu-an og sibilyan (I call on you to return my son, he has done nothing wrong. He has not hurt civilians,” Clemencia said.
“Ipaniguro nako sa inyoha nga siya wala gyud sala bisan gamay, dili man na kabalo mangaway (I assure you he has not done anyone wrong, he is not rowdy),” she added.
She also appealed to the NPA not to hurt her son.
“Kung kinsa ang labaw ninyo diha mga NPA,manghinaot ko makasabot mo sa akoa (Whoever is your leader, I hope you understand me),” said Clemencia.
She also expressed that they are worried and sent a message to his son that she hopes he will soon be released.
Rodolfo Doller, father of CAA Rene Doller also appealed to the NPA to release his son.
He said Rene’s third child is sick and his in-law who is suffering from high blood pressure is worrying about him.
“Pag-adto nako atong Martes pirting hilak,” he said.
Rodolfo added that he was with his son when he was taken by the NPAs. He said he asked the NPA’s not to take his son but an NPA he identified as “Jade” told him that they will not yet return his son.
He called on the NPAs to prove that they are the people’s army.
“Kung tinuod mo nga sundalo sa pobre, kami kabus intawon, naningkamot mi nga mabuhi, nanghangyo mi nga ibalik sila sa ilahang pamilya (If you are for the poor, we are poor too and we are trying our best to live. We appeal to you to return them to us),” Rodolfo said.
The two government troops were captured at a mobile checkpoint mounted by the NPAs along the highway in Barangay Don Mariano Marcos in Lupon, Davao Oriental at around 11:00 in the morning.
Rigoberto Sanchez, spokesperson of the NPA Southern Mindanao said the two were taken as prisoners of war.
“Their .45-caliber pistol was also confiscated. They are being treated leniently and investigated for their possible crimes against the people and the revolutionary movement and involvement in their unit’s counterinsurgency operations,” he said.
The NPA launched successive military operations in Southern Mindanao following the lifting of its August 2016 unilateral ceasefire with the Philippine government last February 10.(davaotoday.com)
