DAVAO CITY – A total of 75 congressmen expressed support for the override resolution against Presiden Benigno Aquino’s veto of the bill seeking to increase the pension of Social Security System members by P2,000 a month.
Makabayan senatorial candidate Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares today said that at least 11 more congressmen threw in their support for the override resolution against Pres. Aquino’s veto of the P2,000 hike in SSS pension a week after Congress was abruptly adjourned.
“We expect more support as we gather the signed resolution from the offices of many congressmen. By May 23 we hope to have the needed 192 signatures,” said Colmenares, who is the proponent of the House Bill 5842.
Colmenares said many more congressmen have expressed support for the override.
“We are right on track and we expect more congressmen to sign as the days pass by. We ask our senior citizens to go to their representatives and request them to support and vote in favor of override on May 23 when Congress reconvenes,” said Colmenares.
