DAVAO CITY – President Benigno S. Aquino III and some cabinet secretaries will be spending P34.6 million of taxpayer’s money for their Tokyo visit early this week.
President Aquino left this morning with a 60-member delegation including, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, among others.
The said amount will cover expenses for transportation, accommodation, food, equipment and other requirements of Aquino’s visit, said Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa.
Press Secretary Herminio Coloma, said the trip “is anticipated to further enhance our ties with Japan, who has been a decades-long strategic partner of the Philippines.”
Aquino, said Ochoa is a “state guest” of Japan and will be received by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and will likewise hold separate meetings with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the business sector, oversees Filipinos workers and migrants.
