DAVAO CITY – Government troops and New Peoples Army fighters figured anew in an encounter after the NPAs fired at the army who were on patrol in Davao del Sur on Monday noon.
In a statement on Tuesday, the army said soldiers of 73rd Infantry Battalion (73IB), 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army seized one (1) M16 rifle with magazine and a (1) rifle grenade from NPA bandits after a 30-minute firefight in Sitio Busao, Brgy. Mangulibas, Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur at 12:30 p.m.
73IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Ronnie Felix Babac said that the troops were able to maneuver when they were fired upon in the area. “Our troops are still on their pursuit operations”, he said.
