DAVAO CITY – Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares on Friday led a picket protest in front of the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros to denounce the Comelec Second Division’s decision disqualifying Sen.Grace Poe based on her residency.
He said that “this is violative of the right of the sovereign people to choose their president”.
“It is common knowledge that all Comelec commissioners are now Malacañang appointees, and this might be used by the Liberal Party as leverage and file disqualification cases against their opponents,” Colmenares said.
“While they have failed in resolving case of presidentiables named Lucifer, it took them a surprisingly short time to resolve the case of Sen. Grace Poe,” he said.
Colmenares added that the Comelec should resolve the case based on merit. (davaotoday.com)
