DAVAO CITY – The court in Mauban, Quezon has cleared daughter of New People’s Army spokesperson, Roger Rosal, Andrea after granting her motion to quash false murder charge and issued her release order on Monday.
In a statement to the press, the National Union of People’s Lawyers and human rights groups Karapatan said a previous “trumped-up charge of kidnapping” was also dismissed by the Pasig Regional Trial Court last year.
The groups said both cases were junked because there is no evidence linking her to the crimes “as these indeed are harassment suits.”
Andrea Rosal was arrested while pregnant in March last year. Rosal lost her baby daughter while in detention.
Lawyer Maria Kristina Conti said they are now working for Rosal’s immediate release “as there is no more legal basis or impediment to hold her in custody.” (davaotoday.com)
