DAVAO CITY — The Department of Agriculture will release 300 motorized fishing boats to the poorest fisher folks in Davao City in time for the celebration of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw next month.
The City Information Office said the Department of Agriculture will turn over the motorized boats, including a complete set of fishing tools to 600 poor families. Each boat costs P70,000 each.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol reportedly said two families will be given a boat to share.
He said the project hopes to “address the poverty experienced by the fishery sector.” He added that the Davao City local government will identify the project beneficiaries.
“Piñol and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has already discussed the plan,” the CIO said. (davaotoday.com)
