DAVAO CITY – The Davao Light and Power Company announced that consumers within its franchise will be experiencing another tight power supply situation after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines experienced a 70 MW deficiency early morning Tuesday.
“After having a stable power supply for the last two months, (DLPC) faces another tight power supply situation within its franchise,” said Corporate Communications Officer Rossano Luga.
Luga said NGCP has announced a 70 MW deficiency in the Mindanao Grid “due to the reduced capability of (National Power Corporation- Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation’s) Pulangi Hydroelectric Power Plant.”
He said that “in order to mitigate the impact of the current power situation, Davao Light will tap the participating big customers through the activation of its Interruptible Load Program.”
“These companies will run their generators instead of drawing power from the distribution line sparing around 4,000 smaller customers,” Luga said.
Luga said they will also run the standby Bajada Power Plant and optimize on its supply agreement with the Hedcor Sibulan Inc. and the Therma Marine Inc.
Luga said if there will still be a deficit in the power supply, “Davao Light may implement a maximum of 30-minute rotating power interruption, but only as a last resort.” (davaotoday.com)
