DAVAO CITY – The city government here is encouraging business owners along San Pedro and Magallanes streets to join the simultaneous lighting of the city hall grounds and the Rizal Park on December 4 by prepping up their establishments with lights and other decorations.
Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, chairman of the committee on tourism said the lighting of city hall will signal the opening of the city’s Pasko Fiesta this year which will run until January 1.
“We urge the private sector along San Pedro and Magallanes Streets to decorate their establishments voluntarily and do the simultaneous lighting of the Christmas lights from December 4 to January 1,” Alejandre said.
He said teams will also roam around the three districts of the city, respectively, to draw the participation of everyone to the various Christmas competitions in the duration of the Pasko Fiesta.
Alejandre said the grand finals of the competition will be done at the Rizal Park.
Pasko Fiesta will feature Kasadya sa Barangay from December 1 to 15, while the Pasko Alang sa mga Empleyado (Christmas for the Employees) will also be done on December 17.
Alejandre said the city government is allocating P5 million for the event. (davaotoday.com)
