DAVAO CITY – A Moro youth movement in Metro Manila will conduct a prayer rally and a caravan to gather more signatures in a campaign for the passage of an “undiluted” Bangsamoro Basic Law.

The Coalition of Moro Youth Movement, whose members trace their hometown or birth origins to Mindanao, said their activity is the culmination of a three-month campaign which started from education to a signature campaign.

The groups comprising the movement said they were able to gather half a million signatures and they will hold activities which will culminate when they will submit the signatures to the Office of the President, Senate and House of Representatives.

The group said that three months ago, they initiated a lecture campaign “to educate Muslims and Christians about the intense need, benefits and advantages of the (BBL).”

“From this education campaign developed a signature campaign  to reflect constituency support from voters and individuals who support the immediate passage of the Bangsamoro law,” said the group.

The group said that this is “contrary to claims by some senators that BBL lacks support from the masses and hence will affect their bid in the next elections.”

The group said the through the signatures, they will “call on the President before his last Sona (state of the nation address) to support this bill.”

The group’s activity will start 11:00 am Friday and will end after lunch with a congregational prayer at Green Hills Mosque and Golden Mosque Quiapo while simultaneously gathering signatures.

The group said their caravan from Green Hills to the Senate will be joined by more or less 100 vehicles.(davaotoday.com)
