DAVAO CITY – The Municipal Treasurer’s Office of Carmen town in Davao del Norte was robbed by still unidentified suspects Sunday night. Police authorities said almost P714,000 were taken by the suspects.
Jovencio Amador, a utility worker, said he found out about the incident around 5:30 am on Monday. He said the stuff inside the treasurer’s office were scattered and the safety deposit vaults of the two cashiers were open.
Initial investigations showed that the suspects forcibly entered by destroying the door knob and barrel lock mechanism at the office’s side entrance.
Meanwhile, Municipal Mayor Marcelino Perandos said the money was intended for the Performance Enhancement Incentives of the local government employees and for the prizes of the upcoming Araw ng Carmen.
