DAVAO CITY – A New People’s Army guerrilla was killed and three soldiers were wounded in a recent clash outside Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Thursday morning.
Capt. Ryan Mar Hubo, civil military officer of the 46th Infantry Battalion, said soldiers were on their way back to camp from a meeting in a hotel in Tagum City when four improvised explosive devices placed at the roadside exploded along Purok 2, Barangay San Agustin.
Hubo said they figured in a 30-minute gunfight immediately after the explosion, with 15 NPAs.
Hubo identified the wounded soldiers as Corporal Maurillo, Private First Class (Pfc) Cornello and Pfc Alada.
The military was able to recover two IEDs, wires, two magazines, empty bullets and a remote.
The three soldiers are now being treated in a hospital while the body of the guerrilla was brought to a funeral house.
