An official of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Davao Region said that Oplan Kandado, which padlocks businesses that do not pay taxes accordingly is an effective tool for the government’s tax collection.
Atty. Glen Geraldino, director of BIR XI, said the Oplan Kandado encourages businessmen to pay the tax due to the government.
Geraldino said their offices in the region will intensify the tax campaign “Oplan Kandado” by monitoring tax payers and running after tax evaders.
“We have to collect 30 percent more of what we have collected last year,” Geraldino said.
Geraldino recalled that the overall tax collection revenue in 2014 was P12.4 Billion in Davao Region and was P1.5-Million higher than the revenue collected in 2013.
“It is only through enforcement that we can collect more from the taxpayers,” he said.
