DAVAO CITY – The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Laban welcomed the decision of the Commission on Elections which junked the disqualification cases against party standard bearer, this city Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
The Comelec voted unanimously to dismiss the disqualification cases. The four petitions filed before the Comelec were dismissed for lack of merit.
The petitions included those filed by presidential aspirants Atty. Ely Pamatong and Rizalito David, who were both disqualified, broadcaster Ruben Castor, and University of the Philippines Student Council head John Paul de las Nieves.
“We welcome the decision of the Commission on Elections to junk all the disqualification cases filed against Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte. From the very start, we are confident that Mayor Duterte will surmount these bogus disqualification cases,” said Atty. Paola Alvarez, PDP-Laban spokesperson in a statement.
“It is a clear triumph over the forces of disorder who are afraid of the radical change Mayor Duterte symbolizes,” she added.
Alvarez said the ruling is “victory of all those who are fed up with the continuing disorder, lack of security and equal opportunities in our country.” (davaotoday.com)
