Peace group to commemorate 47th year of Jabidah Massacre

Mar. 17, 2015

Peace advocates will commemorate the 47th year of the Jabidah Massacre with an “all-out peace” campaign.

The Jabidah massacre, also known as the Corregidor massacre, is an incident which occurred on the night of March 18, 1968 on the Philippine island of Corregidor where at least 28 young Moro recruits in a military project to invade Sabah were summarily executed when they allegedly tried to escape the training.

The All Out Peace group said they will hold a “Salubungan para sa Kapayapaan” where about 200 Moro and Christian participants from Corregidor will be welcomed at Harbour Square in Manila Bay.

There will also be a symbolic turn over of a peace marker: ‘Mindanao Garden of Peace: Corregidor Island’ to the families of the survivors of the massacre.

The activity will commence at 4:00 pm.
