DAVAO CITY – There is a possibility for president-elect Rodrigo Duterte to be inaugurated in Davao City, the outgoing mayor’s spokesperson said on Tuesday, May 17.
Apart from that, Duterte’s spokesperson Peter Laviña said that the ceremony on June 30 will be “simple and frugal,” the way Duterte has said for himself in the past.
“The inaugural committee will be composed of people known to the mayor in Davao,” Laviña said on Monday, May 16.
Laviña has earlier announced the preparation of the transition team in assisting the turn-over of the office of the president.
He said that they will likewise “rely on the volunteers who helped” Duterte during the campaign, then comes, said Laviña, having “to deal with the Malacañang protocol office” and the other agencies involved in the inauguration.
Duterte will have to end his term as mayor of Davao City and turnover his post to his daughter, Sara Duterte-Carpio, who was mayor of the city between 2010 and 2013.
Laviña said that the turnover is scheduled to be held on June 29, a day before the presumptive president’s oath-taking. (davaotoday.com)
