Bayan Muna Rep.Neri Colmenares today denounced China’s act of again bullying the Philippines by reclaiming at least 62 hectares of Mischief reef.
The Washington-based Center for Strategic International Studies released an aerial photo of the Panganiban (Mischief) Reef, which is within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines and a disputed area of the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea), on March 16 showing artificial land formations, fortified seawalls, and construction equipment along the reef.
Colmenares in a statement Friday said all Filipinos should “denounce this unjust and dangerous action to implement China’s expansionist policy based on its 9 dash line theory which is without legal, historical and moral basis.”
Colmenares said President Benigno Aquino should fortify his position in the area to counter China’s acts.
Colmenares also said they are calling on the Supreme Court to resolve their 2008 Petition against China “for violating our territorial sovereignty in order to strengthen our claim to freedom from foreign intervention.”
