A labor group is calling for the arrest of President Benigno Aquino III few days after the release of the Philippine National Police Board of Inquiry report on the Mamasapano incident.
The militant group Kilusang Mayo Uno held a protest action in Mendiola on Monday.
“The BOI report is very clear. Aquino is responsible for the bloodbath in Mamasapano. No amount of lies coming from Aquino and his allies can change this fact,” said Lito Ustarez, KMU vice-chairperson.
Ustarez said the contents of the BOI report explain in hindsight Aquino’s March 9 speech before religious leaders in which he alleged that PNP-SAF director Getulio Napeñas, Jr. tried to fool him.
“He had to go hard on Napeñas to try to counter the BOI report. It shows that Aquino is not concerned with truth and justice, only with his hold on power,” Ustarez said.
