DAVAO CITY – Hundreds of youth from different regions in Mindanao and abroad are set to converge here for a three-day activity in line with the celebration of World Indigenous Peoples’ Day this coming August 9.
Regional convenor of Rise for Education Alliance Juno Vegas said that the gathering aims to unite youth on the issues of human rights, peace and environment.
“This will be a venue of exchanging experiences between local and international youth and will be a starting grounds for truth seeking on the situation of lumads here in Mindanao,” Vegas said.
The said conference dubbed as “Pangiyak-ki! (lumad term for shout) Mindanao Youth Shout Out” will be attended by delegates from abroad who are members of North America-Philippines Solidarity Affair (NAPSA) and Kapit Bisig Kabataan Network (KBKN), a disaster-relief youth network.
The event is spearheaded by different youth organizations including Panalipdan Youth, Kabataan Mindanao Resource Center, Kalumaran, Salugpongan International, and Save our School Network.(davaotoday.com)
