DavNor schools ‘Brigada Eskwela’ top performers cited

TAGUM CITY—Twelve public schools from Davao del Norte province were adjudged “top performers” in the annual  Brigada Eskwela competition of the Department Education.

Tagum City National High School (TCNHS) and Panabo National High School (PNHS) landed on the top spot in  the Secondary Big School Category and Exceptional Category, respectively.

The J. Tuason National High School and Union Elementary School bagged the second place in Small School Category and Exceptional Category.

Mangga Elementary School was ranked 3rd place in Big School Category while Tagum National Trade School won 5th place in the Exceptional Category.

In Panabo City, Rizal Elementary School and Panabo Central Elementary School both won 4th place in Exceptional Category and Big School Category,

Samal’s Peñaplata Central Elementary School, Aumbay Elementary School and Mambago-A National High School all garnered 4th place in their respective categories.

Also, Magupising Elementary School of B.E. Dujali town won 5th place in the Small School Category.

In an interview Wednesday, Dr. Josephine L. Fadul, schools division superintendent of DepEd in Davao del Norte, commended the faculty, staff, parents and stakeholders of Magupising Elementary School in Braulio.E. Dujali.

“We are very happy with their achievement because it shows only that they implemented very well the program. On a deeper note, it also speaks of our seriousness about our campaign to make our schools safe for the children while encouraging stakeholders’ participation,” Fadul said.

In Davao del Norte, a disaster preparedness program dubbed as Oplan A.N.D.A.M. (Advocacy on Natural Disaster Awareness and Management) was initiated by the provincial government designed to prepare communities during disasters.

Governor Rodolfo Del Rosario highlighted “the valuable tieup of the provincial government and the public schools in the Davao del Norte Division, in terms of making the schools disaster-ready and resilient.”

Brigada Eskwela’s awarding ceremony was led by DepEd-XI Regional Director Nenita Lumaad held at the National Educators’ Academy of the Philippiens-Leadership and Development Center in Davao City.

DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide annual schools maintenance program that aims to draw all education stakeholders – including the private sector — to contribute their time, efforts and resources to ensure that public schools are physically ready and safety during the opening of classes.
