DAVAO CITY, Philippines—A company that manufactures reinforcing steel bars turned over Monday to the city government of Davao some 50 ready-to-install multipurpose tents.
“We are very thankful to Steel Asia for giving these tents to the city. The tents will be very useful, especially during festivities,” City Administrator Zuleika Lopez said as quoted saying in a City Information Office dispatch.
The tents measure 10×10 and will be used for the city’s annual festivities, according to Ma. Teresa Pacis, Steel Asia’s assistant vice president for corporate communications.
“The city has festivities every year so we thought it was a good idea to provide tents for the city,” Pacis said.
Pacis said the tent donation to the city government is their way to express their gratitude for the city’s support and hospitality.
Steel Asia, the largest steel manufacturing company in the country, inaugurated its P3-Billion Davao plant in 2014. However, the company has been operating in the city since 2012.
The Davao Mill is considered the most modern in the country today. It was built in anticipation of the surge in government and private infrastructure projects in Mindanao. (davaotoday.com)
